What does trauma recovery mean to you?

“In the midst of my own recovery journey, I read somewhere that we are not the cause of our trauma, yet at the same time we are responsible for healing from our trauma. In many ways, healing from trauma can look and feel unfair, which makes it tempting to leave trauma unresolved. Common manifestations of unresolved trauma include anxiety, depression, physical symptoms like headache and chronic fatigue, and behavioral issues like substance abuse, eating disorders, or self harm. Trauma recovery is a journey that continuously unfolds. The beautiful part about trauma recovery is each time you right a wrong, you learn more about yourself and become a stronger, more resilient person.”
