Regulation Support

Regulation Support may be right for you if…

  • You sometimes feel younger or older than your biological age, especially when you feel triggered, stressed, or highly anxious.

  • You find that your emotions are very extreme, either very intense and consuming or you feel completely detached from feeling anything emotional or physical.

  • You struggle to find, keep or leave relationships, for better or worse.

  • You sometimes harm yourself (cutting, burning, head banging) because it helps you deal with emotionally stressful or triggering situations. Do you find it either helps you to “feel” something or the opposite to numb out or not feel?

  • You struggle with a constant feeling or wanting to end your life that may or may not have to do with actually wanting to die. Sometimes the thought of ending your life gives you a sense of having an option or choice to get out of a bad situation.

If you need help now, if you are having thoughts of ending your life, harming yourself or others and/or have been engaging in self harming behaviors, please contact:

When things feel too big to hold alone.

At Imagine Recovery Counseling, we specialize in supporting individuals who are interested in greater emotional regulation, to help manage those moments when emotions come on fast and hard, feel impossible to manage, or leave you feeling numb, overwhelmed, or out of control.

Whether you’ve been labeled “too sensitive,” “too reactive,” or “too much,” we want you to know: your nervous system makes sense. Your emotions are trying to protect you, but they may need new tools, new pathways, and a different kind of care.

We help clients build skills to navigate:

  • Distress tolerance: how to survive the storm without self-destructing

  • Emotion dysregulation: intense mood swings, outbursts, or shutdowns

  • Interpersonal effectiveness: managing boundaries, conflict, and connection

  • Self-harm and suicidal ideation: with safety, compassion, and zero shame

You may feel stuck in cycles of:

  • Escalating emotional pain

  • Hurting yourself to cope or feel relief

  • Struggling in relationships that leave you feeling unseen

  • Feeling like no one “gets” the intensity of what you experience

  • Being told to “calm down” when that feels impossible

We won’t ask you to be “less emotional.” We’ll help you understand what your body is trying to say, and support you in creating more capacity to ride the waves without going under.

Our clinicians are trained in approaches that support regulation from the inside out, including:

  • EMDR

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills

  • Somatic-Experiencing for grounding and containment

  • Mindfulness and nervous system education

  • IFS (parts work) to explore internal conflict and self-compassion

  • Trauma-informed safety planning and self-harm alternatives

You don’t have to be in crisis to ask for help. And if you are in crisis, we’ll meet you there, with presence, without panic, and with respect for your autonomy and experience.
